UTSA baseball player Daniel Rockett was arrested on Monday March 4 - the same day the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) named him Hitter of the Week.

The victim, a member of the UTSA track team, told the San Antonio Police Department that Rockett and three other members of the UTSA baseball team forced their way into the victim's apartment, which is shared by other members of the track team; then, Rockett punched the victim while the victim lay curled on the ground, trying to protect himself from Rockett's blows. Rockett and the three others fled the apartment after someone inside the apartment called the police.

The victim believed Rockett attacked him because the victim is currently dating Rockett's ex-girlfriend. The Victim also complained of neck and back pain but declined any medical attention.

Rockett was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit an assault, a second-degree felony. Rockett's bail was set at $20,000.

As of right now, no other UTSA baseball players were charged in the incident.

Rockett plays centerfield for UTSA, and he leads the Roadrunners and the WAC in batting with a .553 hitting average. Rockett was awarded his first WAC Hitter of the Week on Feb. 18. He also leads the WAC in batting average (.553), slugging percentage (.936), on base percentage (.589), hits (26), doubles (7) and total bases (44). The Roadrunners are currently 9 -4.

"We are currently reviewing the matter and will take whatever action is appropriate," said UTSA baseball Head Coach Jason Marshall.
